debra broz . mixed media objects
Bio:
Debra Broz grew up in rural Missouri where she cultivated her love for books and the natural world. In 1999, she moved to St. Louis to study art on a full scholarship at Maryville University. It was there that she began working with written material, intrigued by how the brain extracts meaning from fragments of text and relationships between words. Since moving to Austin, Texas in 2005 she continues to make mixed media works and altered books. She is also involved in the local art community, working as co-director of Pump Project Art Complex gallery and studios and editor for local visual art magazine, Cantanker. She also restores porcelain, china and other pottery under the name Science of Art Restoration.
